How to deposit money into Moomoo using FPX (screenshot for every screen)
How to put money into your Moomoo account using Malaysian online banking — screen by screen, how long it takes, and the right order so your deposit counts for the reward.
Depositing into Moomoo using Malaysian online banking is the easiest step in the whole journey — the money usually arrives in a few minutes, and there’s no charge.
What you need to pay attention to isn’t how, but the order you do things in.
If you want this deposit to count toward the new user reward campaign, enter the promo code in Special Deposit FIRST, then make the deposit.
Many people do it backwards — deposit first, then look for the code — and that deposit won’t count toward the campaign. Once money goes in without a code, it can’t be linked back afterward.
Before you start
- Your account has passed KYC. You can’t deposit at all before that.
- A bank account under your own name. The bank account holder’s name must match your Moomoo account name. Deposits from someone else’s account — including a spouse’s or parent’s — will be rejected and the money returned. This is an anti-money-laundering rule, not a Moomoo quirk.
- You know how much you want to deposit. To qualify for the reward campaign, there’s a specific minimum amount and a specific time window.
Part 1 — Enter the promo code first
Find Special Deposit
This page is a little hidden — it’s not in the main menu. The fastest way is through search.
Tap the magnifying glass icon at the top of any tab, then type special deposit.
One result will appear with a small square icon and orange text reading Special Deposit. Tap it.
Enter the promo code, then tap Deposit Now
The Special Deposit screen is very simple — which is exactly why it’s easy to overlook something.
First check the account at the top: it should read Moomoo MY with a Malaysian flag. If you have more than one account, make sure the right one is selected.
Type the promo code into the Enter promo code box. Type it exactly — correct case, no spaces before or after.
Notice the Deposit Now button below: it stays grey and untappable until a valid code is entered. That’s a useful signal — if the button is still grey after you type, your code is mistyped or no longer valid.
Part 2 — Make the deposit
Choose a deposit method
Tap Deposit Now from the previous screen, or go straight to the Accounts tab → Deposit icon.
There’s another, tidier route worth knowing: Accounts tab → Transfers. That page gathers Deposit, Withdraw, Exchange, Transfer Stock In, Bank Account, and Cash Transfer into one list — plus a full History of every deposit and withdrawal below it.
You’ll see three options, and all of them are free:
- GXBank Express Deposit — if you have a GXBank account. Fastest option.
- FPX Express Deposit — marked Popular. This is the option for most people: it connects directly to online banking for any Malaysian bank.
- Bank Transfer — a manual transfer. Slower and more steps. Use this only if the two above don’t work.
Each option shows an estimated time — usually about 5 minutes.
For beginners, choose FPX Express Deposit.
Choose your bank
A full list of Malaysian banks will appear: Maybank2U, CIMB Clicks, Public Bank, RHB Now, Hong Leong Connect, Bank Islam, AmOnline, Bank Rakyat, BSN, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered, Alliance Bank, Affin Bank, and others.
Tap the bank you use for online banking.
Pick the right one. If you select Maybank but log in to CIMB, the transaction will fail and you’ll have to start over.
Enter the amount — and read the name note
This screen shows:
- Deposit Method — the bank you chose earlier
- Account Name — your name as recorded by Moomoo
- Deposit Amount — a box to type the amount
Below the amount field there’s a note you must read:
Please deposit from your own bank account carrying your own name.
This isn’t a suggestion. If the bank account holder’s name doesn’t match your Moomoo account name, the deposit will be rejected and the money returned after a few days.
Type your amount and double-check it — make sure there’s no extra or missing zero. Then tap Deposit Now.
Confirm on your bank's page
The app will redirect you to your own bank’s online banking page. This part is handled by your bank, not Moomoo.
Log in as usual, check the amount and recipient, then approve with a TAC or your bank app’s own confirmation.
Don’t close the browser before it returns you to the Moomoo app. If you close it midway, the payment may still succeed but Moomoo won’t receive confirmation — and your money gets stuck in limbo until it’s manually traced.
If this is your first time depositing, do it on a weekday during office hours. If anything gets stuck, customer service on both sides is around to help. Deposit at midnight on a Saturday, and if there’s a problem, you’ll be waiting until Monday.
Check that the money has arrived
Go back to the Moomoo app, Accounts tab. FPX money usually arrives within a few minutes, sometimes instantly.
If it’s still not showing after 30 minutes:
- Pull the screen down to refresh
- Check Accounts → All → Funding History — every deposit is listed there with its status
- If the status shows failed or there’s no record at all, but the money has already left your bank, contact customer service in the app with your bank receipt
How much should I deposit the first time?
This is a personal question, but there are two practical considerations:
1. There’s a minimum for the reward campaign. If you actually want to claim the new user reward, your deposit needs to hit the minimum amount and happen within 30 days of you registering. The reward amount scales with deposit size. Current details are on the reward page.
2. Flat fees make very small purchases inefficient. Every Bursa stock order carries a flat RM3 Platform Fee, regardless of size. If you deposit RM200 and buy RM200 worth, that RM3 fee alone is already 1.5% of your capital before anything else happens. Full breakdown in the buy your first stock tutorial.
Deposit an amount that lets you make a reasonable first purchase — and one you won’t need for expenses in the next 6 months.
If you get stuck
“The money left my bank but hasn’t arrived in Moomoo” Check Accounts → All → Funding History first. If there’s no record, contact customer service in the app (Discover → Me → Support, full walkthrough here) with your receipt or reference number from the bank. Cases like this are usually resolved within 1–2 business days.
“My deposit was rejected and returned” The most common cause: the bank account holder’s name doesn’t match your Moomoo account name. Use a bank account under your own name.
“I deposited but forgot to enter the promo code first” That deposit most likely won’t count toward the campaign. Enter the code now, then contact customer service to ask whether a future deposit can count instead. Don’t assume it’ll sort itself out.
“The Deposit Now button is grey and won’t tap” Your promo code hasn’t been entered, or it’s invalid. Check the spelling, the case, and make sure there are no blank spaces before or after the code.
Don't have an account to deposit into yet?
Register through Daus's link, enter the code DAUSDK37 under "Special Deposit", and deposit RM1,000 — that is RM150, and up to RM1,500 for a larger deposit.
