How to withdraw money from Moomoo to your bank account (with screenshots)

A screen-by-screen guide to the Moomoo withdrawal process — what Withdrawable vs Total Cash actually means, how long the money takes to arrive, what gets a withdrawal rejected, and how it affects your campaign reward.

This is the number one question beginners ask before they even deposit — and they’re right to ask it early.

“Is it easy to get my money back out?”

Short answer: yes, it’s easy, and it’s free. But there are a few things that can slow down or block your withdrawal, and it’s better you know them now than on the day you actually need the money.

The numbers in these screenshots are deliberately hidden

The screenshots on this page are taken from a real account, so every dollar amount has been blurred or replaced with stars (✱). The screen layout and the name of every field stay exactly as you’ll see them yourself.

Part 1 — Understand these three numbers first

Before you tap Withdraw, open the Accounts tab and find these three numbers. Most withdrawal confusion comes down to mixing up the difference between them.

Three different cash numbers — not all of them can be withdrawn.

Total Cash — all the cash in your account, including money that hasn’t finished settlement yet.

Withdrawableonly this number is actually available to send to your bank right now. This is the one that matters.

Funds on Hold — money that’s “reserved” by something: a buy order still pending, or a sale that hasn’t settled yet.

If your Withdrawable is lower than your Total Cash, it’s almost always one of these two reasons:

  1. You just sold stocks. Bursa Malaysia uses T+2 settlement — your sale proceeds settle two business days after the trade. Sell on Monday, and you can withdraw on Wednesday.
  2. You have a buy order still pending. That money is held for the order. Cancel the order if you want the money back right away.
If your Withdrawable shows 0 but Total Cash isn't zero

Don’t panic and don’t call customer service yet. Check two things: is there a buy order still marked Working in the Orders tab, and did you sell anything in the last two business days. One of those is almost certainly the answer.

Withdrawable broken down by currency

Tap the asset card to open the full view. There, Cash Withdrawable is broken down by every currency you hold — MYR, USD, SGD, HKD, and CNH — with Buying Power for each currency listed below it.

This matters for one practical reason: if you’ve ever bought US stocks, some of your money might still be sitting in USD. Your MYR Withdrawable number can look low even though you actually have money — it’s just parked in a different currency.

The fix: convert your USD balance back to MYR through Accounts → All → Funds → Exchange, then withdraw. The Exchange screen shows the current reference rate before you confirm.

Exchange — convert between MYR, USD and other currencies.
Cash Details — Total Cash by currency
Withdrawable and Buying Power

Notice the difference between these two screens: Cash Details shows how much cash you have in each currency; Cash Withdrawable shows how much of that cash can actually be withdrawn right now. Two different numbers, and the second one is what decides.

Part 2 — Make the withdrawal, screen by screen

1
In the Moomoo app

Open the Withdraw screen

There are two ways in:

  • Accounts tab → the Withdraw icon (if it’s in your shortcut row)
  • Accounts tab → All → the Funds section → Withdraw

If you don’t see the Withdraw icon in your shortcut row, use the second path. The All button opens the full page of every function.

Check Transfer From and Transfer To

The Withdraw screen has just three sections.

Transfer From — the source account. For example Universal Account (5156) – Securities, MYR. If you have more than one account or more than one currency, tap to switch. Make sure the currency is right — if your money is in USD but you’ve selected MYR, the available amount will show zero.

Transfer To — the receiving bank account. It must be a bank account already registered under your own name. You can’t withdraw to someone else’s account, not even a spouse or parent.

If you need to add or change a bank account: Accounts → All → Account → Bank Account.

That page lists every bank account you’ve registered, with its status. Three things worth checking:

  • A blue badge like Account Linked or Deposit Only — some accounts are only allowed for deposits, not withdrawals. If the account you pick is marked Deposit Only, it won’t even show up as an option on the Withdraw screen.
  • Declined status — yes, a bank account application can get rejected. Usually because the name doesn’t match or the details are wrong. If you see Declined, re-register with the correct details.
  • Add a bank account — the button at the bottom to register a new one.

Verifying a new bank account usually takes one to two business days, so don’t leave it to the last minute.

Enter the amount — and check the three lines below it

Type the amount into the Withdrawal Amount box. There’s an All link at the top right of the box to withdraw everything that’s withdrawable.

Below the box are three important lines:

  • Available Amount — the maximum you can withdraw right now. This is that Withdrawable number from earlier.
  • Bank Fees — usually Free for MYR withdrawals to a Malaysian bank.
  • Arrival — an estimated arrival time, usually Usually 1 Business Day.

Double-check everything, then tap Confirm.

The app might ask for your trading password or an SMS code before it approves the request. That’s normal, and it’s a good thing — it’s a layer of protection so someone who picks up your phone can’t withdraw your money.

Track your withdrawal status

Once you confirm, the withdrawal shows up in Funding History.

To get there: from the Withdraw screen, tap the Funding History link below the Confirm button. Or go through Accounts → All → Funds → Funding History.

That page has two tabs: Deposit and Withdrawal. Each row shows the amount, date, and status:

  • Processing or Pending — still being processed
  • Completed — the money has been sent to your bank
  • Cancelled — the request was cancelled (by you or by the system)

If the status already shows Completed but the money hasn’t landed in your bank account yet, wait until the end of the next business day before contacting anyone — transfers between banks sometimes take a few extra hours.

Funding History — every money in and out, with its status.

How long the money takes to arrive

Usually 1 business day for MYR withdrawals to a Malaysian bank.

Two things that slow it down:

1. What time you send it. Requests sent late in the evening, on weekends, or on public holidays get processed on the next business day. Send it in the morning of a business day if you want it moving that same day.

2. Your first withdrawal. The first time you withdraw to a new bank account, it sometimes goes through extra checks. After that it’s faster.

What gets a withdrawal rejected

The bank account name doesn’t match. The bank account must be under the exact same name as your Moomoo account. This is reason number one.

The bank account isn’t verified yet. A new bank account needs to pass verification first. Check its status under Accounts → All → Account → Bank Account.

The amount is more than your Withdrawable. Not Total Cash — Withdrawable. If you try to withdraw more than that, it gets rejected immediately.

Wrong bank details. A mistyped account number, or a bank account that’s already been closed.

What this means for your campaign reward

This is a part you need to understand before you withdraw anything, and we’d rather tell you upfront.

Moomoo’s new user campaign requires you to keep your deposit in place for 60 days to unlock the reward. The reward will show up in My Rewards as soon as you qualify — but it isn’t yours yet.

Here’s what that means:

  • Your money can be withdrawn any time. No restriction, no penalty, no lock. It’s your money.
  • But if you withdraw before the 60 days are up, that reward will not unlock.

Both of those statements are true at the same time, and they don’t contradict each other. You’re free to withdraw; you’re just trading that reward for that freedom.

Don't deposit money you might need

If there’s any chance you’ll need that money within 60 days, don’t deposit it just to chase the reward. The reward is a bonus, not a reason to invest. Only deposit an amount you can genuinely leave alone.

Full terms and current amounts are on the reward page.

FAQ

“Can I withdraw just part of it?” Yes. Type the amount you want, or tap All for everything that’s withdrawable.

“Are there any fees?” For MYR withdrawals to a Malaysian bank, the Bank Fees line usually shows Free. Check that line before confirming — it always shows the actual fee for that withdrawal.

“Can I withdraw USD directly?” For withdrawals to a Malaysian bank, convert USD to MYR in the app first (Accounts → All → Funds → Exchange), then withdraw the MYR. The Exchange screen shows the current Reference Rate — but note that this rate is for information only, and the actual rate can vary slightly depending on the market.

“I tapped Confirm but I want to cancel.” Open Funding History. If the status still shows Processing, there may be an option to cancel. If it already shows Completed, it can’t be reversed — you’d need to deposit again.

“Do I need to sell my stocks before withdrawing?” Yes. You can only withdraw cash, not stocks. If your money is tied up in stocks, sell first, wait for T+2 settlement, then withdraw. How to sell is covered in the how to sell stocks tutorial.

A quick way to check how much is still in stock form: open the Accounts tab and look at the Positions section. Every row there is a stock, not cash.

The Positions section — these are stocks, not cash.
