Learn MoomooHow to use Moomoo AI — ask stock questions, read AI briefs and check the sources (screenshots of every screen)
Moomoo AI can explain a company's business, compare ETFs and summarize stock news. This tutorial shows you how to open it, how to get answers in the language you want, how to check the answer's sources, and who qualifies to use the AI briefs.
When you’re new to stocks, plenty of questions feel too basic to ask anyone. “Where does Maybank actually make its money?” “What’s the difference between VOO and SPUS?” “What does RSI oversold even mean?”
Moomoo AI is an in-app assistant that answers questions like these in plain language, including English and Bahasa Melayu. It also writes a daily and weekly brief for every stock, right inside that stock’s page.
But AI can get things wrong. So this tutorial doesn’t just show you how to ask a question. It also shows you how to check where the AI got its answer from, and the kinds of questions you should avoid.
Moomoo itself puts a disclaimer under every answer: AI-generated content isn’t investment advice and isn’t guaranteed to be accurate. Use Moomoo AI to understand, not to make a buy or sell decision on your behalf.
Part 1 — Open Moomoo AI
Tap the AI button in the Markets tab
Open the Markets tab. At the top right of the screen, next to the search icon, there’s a small button with a robot face and the word AI. Tap that button.
There’s another way in too, a robot icon at the top of every stock’s page. We’ll use that route in Part 3.
The Moomoo AI home screen
The Hi, I’m Moomoo AI screen opens. It has three parts:
- Suggested questions in the middle. Tap one to ask it right away. Tap Refresh to get new suggestions.
- Ask anything at the bottom. Type your question here, or tap the microphone icon to speak.
- Mode buttons below the question box, which we cover in the next step.
Also notice the bottom bar. While you’re inside Moomoo AI, the last icon there changes to AI.
Pick a mode: Expert, Reason or Flash
Tap the Expert ▾ button below the question box. Three modes appear:

If you’re not sure, just leave it on Expert. In our examples, every question was asked in Expert mode.
Part 2 — Ask your first question
Type a question and tap the send button
Tap the Ask anything box and type a question. We’ll try one a lot of people ask:
Apa beza ETF VOO dan SPUS? Terangkan untuk orang baru dalam Bahasa Melayu. (“What’s the difference between VOO and SPUS ETFs? Explain it for a beginner, in Bahasa Melayu.”)
Once there’s text, a white send button appears next to the microphone icon. Tap it.
The AI shows Planning & Executing… while it looks up data. In our test, the full answer to a question like this took one to two minutes.
If the answer comes back in Chinese
Here’s what happened in our test. Even though the question was written in Bahasa Melayu and ended with a request for Bahasa Melayu, the first answer came back in Chinese.
Don’t close the app. Just type a short follow-up:
Tolong jawab semula dalam Bahasa Melayu, bukan bahasa Cina. (“Please answer again in Bahasa Melayu, not Chinese.”)
The second answer came back in clear Bahasa Melayu, complete with a summary, a comparison table and a point-by-point explanation.
Tip: put the language instruction at the start of your question, not the end. In Part 3, questions that begin with “Jawab dalam Bahasa Melayu mudah:” (Answer in simple Bahasa Melayu:) got a Bahasa Melayu answer on the first try. If you want English, try the same approach and start your question with “Answer in simple English:”.
Bottom of the answer: disclaimer, buttons and follow-up questions
Scroll to the end of the answer. You’ll find three things:
- A disclaimer in small gray text. It means: AI content isn’t investment advice, isn’t guaranteed to be accurate, and you use it at your own risk.
- 👍 and 👎 buttons for feedback, and a Share button to share the answer.
- Follow-up questions that the AI suggests. Tap one to keep asking.
In the VOO and SPUS answer above, the AI itself closed with a line saying the information is for general education, not a recommendation to buy or sell.
Open an old chat or start a new one
Tap the ☰ icon at the top right of the Moomoo AI screen. The Chats screen opens with a New Chat button at the top, and a list of questions you’ve asked before, below it.
Start a new chat every time you switch topics. The AI takes earlier parts of the same conversation into account, so mixing topics can confuse its answers.
Part 3 — Ask about a single stock
Tap the robot icon on a stock's page
Open any stock’s page. We’ll use 1155 MAYBANK.
At the top right of the page, next to the search icon, there’s a robot icon. Tap it.
Moomoo AI opens with suggested questions specific to that stock. For MAYBANK, the suggestions included a full Maybank analysis, what it means that RSI(6) has entered oversold territory, and the impact of a USD700 million bond issuance.
Ask a question that helps you understand the business
The most useful question for a beginner is one about the company’s business, not tomorrow’s price. We typed:
Jawab dalam Bahasa Melayu mudah: Maybank buat duit dari mana, dan apa risiko utama perniagaan bank ni? (“Answer in simple Bahasa Melayu: Where does Maybank make its money, and what are the main risks of this bank’s business?”)
This time the answer came straight back in Bahasa Melayu. It opened with Ringkasnya (in short), then broke Maybank’s income down into a few parts: net interest income, fees and commissions, investments, and insurance and takaful.
Read the risk table and the conclusion
The next section is a Risiko utama perniagaan (main business risks) table. Each risk has a Maksud mudah (simple meaning) column, for example:
- Risiko kredit (credit risk) — borrowers might fail to repay, and the bank has to set aside money to cover the loss
- Risiko kadar faedah (interest rate risk) — if deposit costs rise faster than lending rates, the bank’s margin shrinks
The table also lists economic risk, market and currency risk, liquidity risk, operational and cyber risk, and regulatory risk.
At the end there’s a Kesimpulan (conclusion), and one follow-up question the AI offers to continue the discussion.
Check the source — tap the small number in the answer
This is the most important step in this tutorial.
Notice the small boxed numbers at the end of some sentences, for example after a profit figure. That number is a source reference. Tap it.
A Sources list slides up from the bottom. For the Maybank answer, the sources included the company profile, income statement and balance sheet inside Moomoo, plus one news article from The Edge Markets.
Every time the AI gives you a number, such as a billion-ringgit profit figure or an impaired-loan ratio, tap the reference and make sure that number is actually in the source. If a sentence has no reference number, treat it as the AI’s own reading and check it yourself.
See the AI's working (optional)
Above every answer there’s a Planning & Execution Complete line. Tap the arrow at its right end to see the steps the AI took: understanding the question, reading the company’s data, and planning the answer.
In our test, these steps were shown in Chinese even though the answer itself was in Bahasa Melayu. This part isn’t essential reading. The answer and the source list are far more useful.
Part 4 — AI briefs on a stock’s page
Besides chat, Moomoo AI also writes a brief for every stock. You don’t need to ask anything.
Daily Brief: a summary of trading data
Open a stock’s page, stay on the Chart tab, and scroll down past the chart and the bid-ask rows. A Moomoo AI section with a Member badge sits there.
The Daily Brief tab opens with a short headline, for example Closed below MA5; RSI dipped into oversold, flows mixed. Below it is Trading Data with color-coded labels:
- Bullish (green) — a sign the AI reads as positive
- Bearish (red) — a sign the AI reads as negative
- Neutral (gray) — a mixed sign
Every line has a small link like Indicators › or Trade Overview › that takes you to the underlying data. The Ask AI button below opens chat to dig further.
The Bullish and Bearish labels are the AI’s reading of technical indicators, not an instruction to buy or sell. In our MAYBANK example, there were Bullish and Bearish signs on the same day.
According to Moomoo’s Help Center, the Daily Brief is refreshed before and after the market opens each day.
Weekly Brief: this week's key news
Tap the Weekly Brief tab. The weekly summary has a Key Event section, the main news about the company over the week, each one tagged Bullish, Bearish or Neutral.
For MAYBANK, Key Event included the full takeover of insurer Etiqa and a USD700 million bond issuance. Each news item also carries a small label like 3 Sources, the number of news sources the AI used.
Part 5 — The Member badge and your quota
The Moomoo AI section on a stock’s page is labeled Member. Moomoo Malaysia’s membership benefits table also lists AI Stock Analysis as a perk for V1 and above. So what you see in that section depends on your membership level.
Three levels, based on points over 90 days
Tap the Member badge, then the ⓘ icon next to the Member Center title. The moomoo Membership page explains the levels and how they’re calculated:

Membership Points come from two sources:
- Assets — 1 point per day for every RM1,000 of net assets in your Moomoo MY account. Money in Cash Plus doesn’t count.
- Trading — 100 points per trade.
As a worked example, RM5,000 in assets over 90 days earns 450 points. Add 6 trades, and that’s another 600 points. The total is 1,050 points, enough for V1. Moomoo’s own page uses this same example.
How many times can you ask Moomoo AI?
The benefits table doesn’t list a chat quota for Moomoo AI at each level. What we saw in our own V3-level account was Moomoo AI Assistant: 200/month, shown under Member Rewards.
When Moomoo AI launched in Malaysia in June 2025, users were offered 5 free questions for AI Assistant and a 30-day trial for AI Stock Analysis. Offers like this can change, so check Member Center in your own app for the current quota.
Every trade has a cost, and 100 points per trade can tempt people to buy and sell more often than they need to. Moomoo AI helps you understand, but it isn’t worth it if extra trading fees eat into your returns.
Good questions to ask, and questions to avoid

Questions in the right-hand column ask the AI to predict or choose for you. Nobody can predict prices with certainty, including AI. Answers to questions like these might sound confident, but confidence doesn’t make them correct.
Common mistakes when using Moomoo AI
1. Trusting a number without checking the source. Tap the small reference number to check where that number came from. A sentence without a reference needs checking yourself.
2. Assuming Bullish means buy. The Bullish and Bearish labels in the Daily Brief are a reading of technical indicators. Both labels can appear on the same stock on the same day.
3. Putting the language instruction at the end of the question. Put “Jawab dalam Bahasa Melayu” at the start of your question so the answer doesn’t come back in a different language. For English, try starting with “Answer in simple English”.
4. Mixing several topics in one conversation. Tap ☰ → New Chat every time you switch topics.
5. Asking the AI which stock to buy. Use the AI to understand the business and the risks. The decision is still yours.
Frequently asked questions
Can Moomoo AI understand Bahasa Melayu? Yes. Questions in Bahasa Melayu are understood. But in our tests, answers sometimes came back in Chinese. Put “Jawab dalam Bahasa Melayu” at the start of your question for more consistent results. For English, try starting with “Answer in simple English”.
Is Moomoo AI free? The Moomoo AI section on a stock’s page is labeled Member, and the benefits table lists AI Stock Analysis for V1 members and above. Your chat quota depends on your account. Check Member Center in the app for your own quota.
Can I ask using my voice? Yes. Tap the microphone icon in the Ask anything box.
Are the AI’s answers accurate? Not necessarily. Moomoo itself states that AI answers aren’t guaranteed to be accurate. Tap the reference numbers to check the source, especially when the answer includes numbers.
Where can I find questions I’ve asked before? Tap the ☰ icon at the top right of the Moomoo AI screen. Your old conversations are on the Chats screen.
